St. Elian's Church

The Cursing Well of St. Elian

The Cursing Well of St. Elian is interesting now only from its associations, as a rector destroyed the shrine, in order to suppress the superstition it encouraged in his people. In years gone by, for an offering of a pin a curse could be registered with a persons name etched on a stone, which was then dropped into the well.

NB We do not advise drinking from any of these sources.
